AskVal is an AI concierge that real estate agents attach to their listings. This page explains what happens with what you share. Plain language on purpose.
Val is an AI
Val is an AI assistant, not a person and not a licensed agent. Val says so when asked and never pretends otherwise. A human agent may join a conversation — Val tells you when that happens.
What we collect
- The conversation. What you type and what Val replies, tied to the listing you were looking at.
- Contact details you choose to give — name, email, phone — so the listing agent can follow up on a showing or a question. Val asks; you decide.
- How you arrived. Whether you scanned a yard sign, signed in at an open house, or came from a website, plus a hashed (one-way) form of your IP address used only for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
- Showing requests and the times you picked.
We do not run advertising trackers and do not sell your information.
Who sees it
The listing agent (and their brokerage) sees conversations and contact details for their own listings, and may load them into their customer relationship system. Conversations are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate Val's replies. Answers may draw on public records (county tax records, MLS data) and the listing agent's notes.
Emails and texts
If you gave an email, you may receive a confirmation, a follow-up from the agent, or a note when the home's price or status changes. Every such email carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
Retention
Conversations and leads are kept for 365 days, then purged, except where a showing was booked or the agent has marked the lead as active. Ask the listing agent to delete your information sooner and they can.
Fair housing
Val does not answer questions about the demographics of a neighborhood or steer anyone on the basis of a protected class. Ask about schools, commutes, flood zones, and taxes instead — Val will point you to the sources.
